Having just won Album of the Year at the National Indigenous Music Awards for his 2014 LP Sheplife and best video for Bad Apples, Victorian rapper Briggs is one of Australia’s finest and fiercest MCs. This became clear as early as 2009, when he self-released his debut EP, Homemade Bombs. Since then Briggs has released two albums on Golden Era – Sheplife and 2010’s The Blacklist – toured with the likes of Hilltop Hoods, Ice Cube, Yelawolf and Ghostface Killah, received several Deadly nominations and become a voice for indigenous rights.
At the Newtown Social Club & The Workers Club he’ll be headlining with a typically incendiary solo set, as well as teaming up with Funkoars' MC Trials for their A.B. Original project. (Trials will also be performing a DJ set). Support on the night will be up-and-coming rappers Philly, Birdz and Nooky who will be releasing music on Briggs's new imprint Bad Apples Music.
