Big Village Presents the album launch for legendary Canberra duo D'Opus & Roshambo. They are hitting the road as part of their 'Mayday' national tour and will be joined in Sydney by the infamous HYJAK, Jezza (debut self titled EP launch) & our reesident party popper 26th Letter.
Mayday is D’Opus & Roshambo’s call for concern and observa9on — a new nine track release that frames their world, as it stands now.
The triple j favourites return with their first full length in 5 years. AAer their introduc9on to the scene with ‘Million Dollar Bill’, their single from debut album The Switch, cracking the top 100 most played tracks on triple j, highly an9cipated followup Past Time didn’t disappoint, as accolades from the fans and media alike poured in.
On their latest release, D’Opus forms a produc9on landscape that treads between familiar frequencies and specula9ve horizons. Rich bass, jarring and soA synthesisers alike, nods to a history sampling with a 9ghter focus on live instrumenta9on form the core of the songs. Amidst the interplay, there’s plenty of space for a story to be told.
This is where Roshambo completes the message, varying his delivery and tone in the same ebbs and flows as the lyrics in his storytelling. Roshambo has matured, exploring subjects such as the 9ring sleeplessness that comes with being a father, the numbness and acceptance of loss, and the complica9ons of crea9vity.
