Fortay at Large

  • Studio Six 6 Boyle St Sutherland, NSW 2232 Australia (map)

Having emerged from Sydney’s underground hardcore hip/hop scene since 2004 as a battle MC Champion every week for as long as 6 months at The Greenwood, and with his underground acclaimed mixtape’s 2148 Mixtape Vol.1 and 2148 Mixtape Vol. 2 . There’s no doubt that up and comer Fortay has not only caught the eye of his peers and the local scene but even caught the eyes and ears of some of hip/hop’s most respected producers and artists of our era.

Having supported an impressive list of internationals in his home city of Sydney including Necro , M.O.P , DJ Scratch & DJ Cash Money and Method and Redman , plus collaborating performances and recordings with local hip/hop artists Toofurious, HED UBD, Torcha and MC Losty / The Havknotz, there’s no shortage of credibility locally and especially internationally on his last trip to L.A, rollin’ blunts with names such as Snoop Dogg, DJ Premier, Daz Dillinger/Kurupt of Doggpound, Devin The Dude and many more of West Coast hip/hop fame.

To be released in July 2010 titled “Fortified”, the debut LP by this young Sydney sider definitely has an eye catching list of production and feature credits including DJ L.T (USA) - , DJ Experts (USA) - , Tyree (NZ) – , Anecdote and most notably, worldwide platinum selling artist Daz Dillinger of Doggpound (USA) – . Featuring and producing the track “Watchya Wanna Do”, Daz’s collaboration will make Fortay the first ever Australian hip/hop artist to collaborate with a West Coast U.S MC/Producer of the G-Funk Era making the release definitely something for Australian hip/hop fans to write home about and no doubt to be proud about.

So whether you listen up and catch a glimpse of the potential of this up and coming home grown rapper or you choose to silence it, there’s no doubt that audiences nation wide will be nodding their heads with their hands in the air. As Fortay looks to get touring post July and with the credibility and fan base - nothing is to stop such a thing to happen, no doubts.
