Home Bass returns in 2017 to present a special Survival Day event featuring Bad Apples Music representatives Nooky & Philly. They will be joined by local icons Izzy & DjManiak TheAntideckstress, Azza D, Marze & our resident DJ 26th Letter. Plus an open mic hosted by Big Village Record reps P.Smurf & Rapaport for anyone keen to let their voice be heard.
Nooky burst into the Sydney Hip Hop scene in 2010 with his technical rap style and thought provoking lyrics. After moving to Sydney from the regional town of Nowra on the south coast of NSW, he quickly gained the attention of his peers, touring nationally with The Last Kinection, collaborating with Radical Son and The Herd delivering their take on the Sam Cook anthem 'A Change Is Gonna Come' for Like a Version on triple j. He has since propelled forward in leaps and bounds, and like Philly, has recently signed on to Hip Hop legend 'Briggs' record label Bad Apples Music, formed in 2016 to allow other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists to flourish at the highest level within the music industry nationally, and internationally.
While his first supporters stemmed from his hometown of Mildura & his traditional homeland down Swan Hill side near the banks of the mighty Murray River, Philly has now spread his name far and wide across the country, gaining notoriety from peers and fans alike. In 2010 Philly won the National Noel Tovey Achievement Award and became Mildura’s NAIDOC Artist of the Year. In 2015 he was the winner of the National Indigenous Music Awards 'New Talent of the Year' category, he performed a breathtaking rendition of Bob Marley's Three Little Bird for triple j's Like a Version, and he also released his first E.P - Dreamchaser. now with his recent signing to Bad Apples Music, Philly is determined to continue to use his voice to make change and inspire young people.
Home Bass is a free entry event as all ways - held on the last Thursday of each month, presented by Big Village Records.
