Into hip hop & dark electronic tunes? Sick of having to choose a genre when you head out for a gig?
Independent label Newtown Research + Development alongside Sydney Dark Electronic are giving you a night of just that. So this time you can have it all! The night will include a few of our favourite things – Experimental hip hop, dark beats, rhymes, brooding vocals, drum pads and creepy visuals.
Headlining the night is recent Tech N9ne support BUSTACAP – An in your face, electronic, rap-rave, hardcore hip-hop duo. Although siblings – the two are polar opposites. Prolifik the Gifted is a cornrowed, cupid faced, beat addicted, vinyl vandal and punk influenced sister Thraxxy Harlem AKA Le Panther is a big haired, quick witted, whiskey drinking dame. They are constantly breaking down genre barricades and will hit you with witty, tongue in cheek one liners, layered over thick booty bass and hypnotic, voodoo synth.
Solo performer VAEIN is no stranger to the stage. VAEIN plays regular DJ nights around Sydney as well as energetic drum pad beating solo performances – including supporting local industrial electronic act [SNUFF] at Hermann’s. With influences as wide as NIN, Massive Attack and Phillip Glass combining with some Glitch and Dubstep style – he doesn’t fit a standard mould.

Local producer/beatmaker CHARLES OBLIVION is one half of the NRND signed dark and cerebral experimental hip hop duo Mute Oblivion (paired with Mute MC from Big Village). Charles has remixed for The Blush Foundation, under his moniker Michi: Child of Science and is one of the founding members of the Audio Visual Enthusiast Club project. With original material from his latest EP, ‘عالفاضي’, plus twisted bass driven remixes he will be surprising your senses with genre mashing skills.

Hailing originally from Perth is our opening act DRASTIK. Usually on stage as half of NRND’s Sweat Collectors – DRASTIK jumps up solo tonight to preview some his work from his upcoming The Girl E.P, - With production from Kit Complete (Reverse Polarities, Big Village) & CHARLES OBLIVION – expect the darkest of poetry, intriguing melody and dirty beats.
