ADVERSE //

His unique mixing style and charismatic showmanship have distinguished Adverse (SYD) as a Music Trendsetter and favoured Party Rocker! From 2000 – 2004 Adverse (SYD) was responsible for putting the much sort after local mixtapes “4 Da Ladies, 4 Da Gents” series into the CD players of many Hip Hop & RnB lovers, but not without the hard work, self-discipline and strong personal ethics. Self-taught the art of mixing 80s and 90s Hip Hop & RnB, it was no coincidence that DJ Adverse (SYD) devoted his time and efforts to what started out as a hobby to being a true enthusiast to Hip Hop music culture. Aside from his duties as one of the original’s of local north shore Sydney radio station Triple H FM , Adverse (SYD) was swiftly put on the frontline of the mainstream of Dj-ing throughout Sydney in the early 2000′s. Playing at some of Sydney’s most popular night spots at the time Inc The Cave, Metropolis, MTV lair, Shark hotel & Star bar to name a few. He expanded his talents and became 1 of Australia’s leading MC’s for Booty Bar Australia which took him touring across the country with Booty Bar founder and Accredited ARIA award winner Dj Lenno for 2 years.

It was at this point that Adverse (SYD) met MC Noodlez (SYD) and became a founding member of Sydney up and coming independent urban label “The Groovedealers.” Under “The Groovedealers” banner, Adverse helped Noodlez form and write music for Sydney Hip Hop Trio “UNISON”, which took them across the state (NSW) to perform and promote, leading them to 1200 downloads of their debut EP. 3 tracks that “Adverse” appeared on from the EP featured on Triple J Unearthed for 4 consecutive weeks at the number 1, 2 and 3 position on the Hip Hop charts and also retaining itself in the top 20 for several months. This achievement combined with his successes with producing and performing with Australian Hip Hop Groups LP & The Architects and working closely with Mc Noodlez over the last 5 years shows that he is no stranger to connecting with an audience. Armed with over a decade of experience in the nightlife business, highly respected and loved by all who know him, Adverse has established close relationships with some of the country’s most notable and renowned DJ talents, artists and promoters.

His style is limitless with an enormous bound of continuous energy. It’s HIP HOP/Afro Inspired Music, with a lot of different twists. Nothings ever set or the same when he’s on the decks, the music is always freshly delivered. You can catch Adverse currently rocking local night spots and working on new material with Noodlez under the “The Groovedealers” and its sure to impress all that follow.

VJ SPOOK //

VJ Spook (a.k.a Nick Palin), has been working as a VJ since before the turn of the century, providing innovative visual stimuli for audiences at clubs, events, tours and festivals all over Australia.

With a strong professional background in digital media, an honours degree in multimedia production and an amateur interest in motion graphics since childhood – Spook began dabbling in live performance video as soon as he could get into clubs, and a professional career as a VJ soon followed. Since then, his style has developed through work on a range of the largest productions in Australia, across a variety of musical genres, while supporting some of the most creative and greatest acts in the world today.

Since 2004, Spook has focused a majority of his energy into the Australian Hip Hop scene, holding long-term residencies at legendary Sydney club nights like Funktrust and 411. While at the same time providing visuals at concerts for international touring artists such as Public Enemy, Ice T, Kool Keith, Jazzy Jeff, KRS One and many, many more. As a VJ, he has toured Australia with hip hop heavyweights such as Mix Master Mike, De La Soul, DJ Format, as well as Swollen Members and DJ Q*Bert. In 2006 he joined Snob Scrilla to tour with the band until 2008, when he joined Bliss n Eso as their resident tour VJ – a title which he holds to this day.

With the release of the Pioneer DVJX-1 back in 2004, Spook began working more with audio as well as video. He became one of the Australian brand ambassadors for Pioneer, demonstrating the unit at various events and showcases. It wasn’t until the release of Serato Video and the Rane TTM57 that his passion for AVDJing was truly sparked however, as the live flexibility was exactly what he had been looking for. It was at this time he began teaching himself various production and DJing techniques, which he developed alongside his visual performance style.

In 2012 Spook began working with Sydney DJ Raine Supreme on their AV partnership known as NTSC. After a debut Australian tour supporting legendary oz hip hop originators Def Wish Cast, they went on to release their first full length video mixtape “Rappin to the Beat” to a fanfair of praise from the international AV elite. Since then they’ve supported artists such as Jurassic 5, Afrika Bambaataa, Pharoahe Monch, George Clinton and Parliament.

Spook’s commitment to live spontaneity and continual experimentation has seen him build a style comparable to none, while earning him commendations from many of the global music industry’s leaders.
